Wow-weeeee it’s round 7 already!!
After hearing of Prince Philip's retirement it reminded me of some MCG ‘Fun Fact’ history I had rattling around in my head, the first EVER Sunday VFL game on April 5, 1970 was attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
I am standing in for Darren this week as I am doing MUCH better than him in tips this year ha ha.
Does look like a few 50/50 games to make tipping a bit more stressful this week. Here goes…
St Kilda v GWS
It’s the first Friday night game for the Sainters in more than 2 years! They have lost the last 11 matches on a Friday, giving them the longest losing streak in Friday night history. Another fun fact: These 2 teams have played each other 6 times and they are one of 2 teams the Giants have improved dramatically against, stats go..
- Saints by 128
- Saints by 72
- Saints by 7
- GWS by 9
- GWS by 35
- GWS by 47
So following that pattern …
Giants by 49pts
North Melbourne v Adelaide
The Roos finally snapped their 10 game losing streak and got their first win since 30 July 2016, making their crying fans finally able to crack a smile. Now they face the Crows who are definitely the best team in the comp right now, not to get ahead of myself but they have just looked sensational! They have the depth and the scoring power to keep their record 7-0.
Crows by 37 pts
Collingwood v Carlton
Last week we thought the 2 easy games to tip were Sydney to beat Carlton and the Cats to beat Collingwood… what the hell happened? Pies beating Geelong has injected some optimism into the Pies fans, but this game won’t be easy as it is their third game in 12 days. I don’t expect greatness from this rivalry game and I am finding it quite hard to tip. Collingwood should win but they always seem to lose the ones they are expected to win.. so let’s tip an upset in this game.
Blues by 13pts
Port Adelaide v West Coast
The peeeeeeeeeaaar have been flying high this year only losing to Adelaide and the Giants and flogging pretty much everyone else.. now these are impressive wins but let’s face it none of the teams they have won against are in the top 8 and aren’t a high chance at making finals. If they wanna impress they have to beat the Eagles this week. Whilst the Eagles can’t win at the MCG they do have a great record at Adelaide Oval and have beaten Port the last two times they have visited. Shut down Kennedy and the Power will win, but you know me and I HATE tipping Port so….
Eagles by 17pts
Gold Coast v Geelong
Geelong will be back for blood this week after their embarrassing loss to Collingwood. It will be a good midfield battle with Abblet up against DangerWood but no way will the Suns win this one.
Cats by 45pts
Western Bulldogs v Richmond
Richmond forgot that AFL consists of more than 1 quarter last week, are those wagon wheels starting to wobble? Doggies were back in form last week they just forgot that you are supposed to kick the footy between the two big sticks. They bring that aggressiveness around the ball this week and kick straight they will flog the Tigers..
Bulldogs by 41pts
Sydney v Brisbane
Who honestly is going to watch this game I ask?? Watching paint dry will be more exciting than this game, in fact I might just watch the Rangers v Senators game 5 replay.
Swans by 15pts
Melbourne v Hawthorn
It has been soooo long since Melbourne have been favourites to win against the Hawks. The Dees are an improving side but they are still as frustrating as ever and still have the footy skills of an under 12’s team. The first half against Essendon and the Dee’s was atrociously hard to watch. Whilst watching Hawks lose to Saints was incredibly easy and satisfying to watch. Jordan Lewis faces his old team and I bet you Hawks fans are wishing he was running out in the old brown and gold. I think their might be an upset here and the Hawks will take out the 4 points.
Hawks by 20pts
Fremantle v Essendon
Flip of a coin this one…
Freo by 11pts
I hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you all Monday.
