Happy Thursday Tippers,
Round 14 brings the final bye round and some fun facts: Bulldogs play 8 out of their last 10 games against top 8 sides, Adelaide play 6 out 9 games against top 8 sides, Port and Hawks play 8 out of last 10 games against bottom 8 sides (which could set them up nicely for finals)..
Now let’s have a look at the games this week.
West Coast v Essendon
The round kicks off tonight with a Thursday night clash in Perth. The Eagles broke their winning streak last week in Sydney and showed the only team who knows how to beat them is Sydney. Darling’s injury definitely weakened the Eagles scoring power last week and with Kennedy out this week I wonder who will kick their goals.. Eagles have only lost once at their new fortress and fun fact the Bombers have lost their past 7 games by an average of 49 points in Perth. The Bombers have won their past 4/5 and come off the bye with fresh legs. Maybe playing at a new stadium will break their Western Curse. We all love a good upset…
Bombers by 5pts
Port Adelaide v Melbourne
Both teams sit on 32pts with only percentage separating them. Melbourne will be looking to get a win on the board after the stinker of a performance they gave against the Pies and Port are looking for 3 in a row. The clashes between Gawn v Ryder and Viney v Wines is reason enough to watch this game. Fun fact Melbourne have never won an interstate Friday night match, with eight losses from eight games since 1991 until now…
Dees by 18pts
Hawthorn v Gold Coast
Hawks are far too good to lose to Gold Coast especially in Tassie. Especially since Gold Coast can’t even win a match against the Saints when they are up by 31 points at 3qtr time and the Saints had 2 on the bench. PATHETIC!
Hawks by 43pts
Brisbane v Greater Western Sydney
Brisbane have been far from rubbish this season, but have only won one game. GWS have seemed to hit form at the right time of the season and if they want to keep their finals hopes alive they need to win the winnable games. Which this is.
Giants by 35 pts
Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne
Bulldogs and Crows are battling over who can injure their entire team the fastest. They lose Wood and Macrae to the hamstring plague, whereas the Roo’s come off the bye with a near full strength side. This could get ugly quick for the dogs! This will be a big percentage booster for the Roo’s which is what they need.
Roo’s by 40 pts
Collingwood v Carlton
The pies are sitting pretty in 6th spot whilst Carlton sit dead last! The past 5 games have been Collingwood/Carlton/Collingwood/Carlton/Collingwood so the pattern suggests Carlton should win this. But since Carlton are a hot mess this year this should be a training drill for the Pies. The AFL are insisting on you all spending Sunday’s with your families since they haven’t aired a game on free-to-air for the past 2 weeks now.
Pies by 24pts
Hope you all have a good weekend and Go Crows!
