Round 1 Wrap
Happy Monday Everyone!
Well that’s Round 1 done and dusted and what was a great weekend of footy, it seemed a bit overshadowed by that disgraceful Cricket ball tampering scandal.. absolute joke that is!
I’ll keep to the footy and look at the numbers that count…
54 –Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell ran amuck on Saturday racking up his new personal best with 54 disposals. This marks the most disposals recorded bettering Greg Williams who got 53 in 1989 against St Kilda and the 53 Gary Ablett got in 2012 v Collingwood.. Mitchell topped bettered his 2017 performance of 50 also against Collingwood. Buckley said Mitchell’s disposals don’t concern him as they do not impact the game… What The??!? I think the score board might tell a different story Bucks.
12 – Noteworthy fact: All 12 goals scored in Saturday night’s water polo match against the Suns and Roo’s in Cairns were scored up the same end, I hear it was the way the current was going.
8 – When he’s on, he puts on a show! Big Bad Buddy kicks 8 goals at Optus Stadiums first AFL match. The most goals kicked in round 1 this century. The last time it was done was 1952, John Coleman kicked 13.
3– The number of points Geelong won by. Melbourne made their way back from a 5 goal defict to be within 4 points with 40 seconds left in the last qtr, big Max Gawn takes the mark with a set shot 20 odd metres out with 40 seconds left and misses! Argh can you believe it?!
82 – Giants absolutely detroyed the Bulldogs and to make it worst looks like Liberatore has done his ACL, being the second season in 4 years he misses out on due to injury, poor guy.
11- Well done to the 11 people who This week we saw 11 tippers score the perect season opener tipping 9/9. Fantastic work people!
